“As a public health physician, I am acutely aware of the importance of preventive medicine,” says Masja van de Pas. “Prevention is better than cure. And there is still much to be gained in this area. For example, there is increasing knowledge about the influence of diet, exercise, and sleep on our bodies and mental health.”

Van de Pas has extensive experience in both individual and collective care. She trained as a general practitioner and later as a public health physician. She is keen to use her knowledge and experience to detect diseases and deficiencies early to prevent or limit health damage.

“Especially with the current pressure on healthcare, the importance of prevention only grows,” says Van de Pas. “Prevention helps prevent health problems and also contributes to reducing healthcare costs.”
