On this page, learn more about Easly’s services related to STD diagnostics and STD care. Easly offers a wide range of STD self-taking tests, where anonymity, discretion and reliability are paramount.
Easly’s services include a diverse range of validated medical tests. You perform the test independently with instructions in the comfort of your own home.
Within the extensive range of self-taking tests, Easly offers STD self-taking tests, among others. In an STD self-sampling test, you take body material (a sample or specimen) from yourself. This can be from one or more body locations and depends on your gender and sexual acts. You will send this body material to our ISO accredited laboratory. In the laboratory, the sample is analyzed via a PCR test. The PCR test checks for the presence of one or more pathogens of an STD (a bacterium, virus or parasite).
Easly has a diverse range of STD self-tests, divided into different test packages. The STDs you can get tested for at Easly by PCR test are:
At Easly, you cannot get tested for HIV and hepatitis B, among other things. For this we advise you to contact your own doctor or the GGD. We also cannot test for syphilis serology (blood tests).
It is important to choose an STD self-test that best suits your situation and sexual acts. This is because that way you will obtain the most reliable result possible. Choosing the right test can be quite complicated. When are you complete in your choice and when are you perhaps testing for unnecessarily many STDs? Moreover, from what body sites should you take material? You get answers to these questions by using the handy selection tool. You can also be advised by our medical team, consisting of independent doctors with professional confidentiality.
Go through the Easly STI test guide here.
Once you’ve chosen the right test? Then order Easly’s self-administered test completely anonymously. You have the test delivered to your home. Using both written instructions and video instructions, take the test. You then send the collected body material to our ISO accredited laboratory in Eindhoven: Mozand.
Mozand laboratory is under the direction of Dr. A van der Zanden, Medical Molecular Microbiologist. Your test will be analyzed immediately upon receipt at the laboratory by one of the analysts. Analysis of the test is done via a highly reliable and sensitive PCR test. Within a maximum of 48 hours after your test arrives at the laboratory, the results will be known. The result is reviewed and validated by the Medical Molecular Microbiologist.
After validation, your result will be published on your personal and secure results page. You can only access your result with a unique code provided in your test package. So it is important to keep this code safe! The results page clearly states whether you are negative or positive for the STD or STDs you were tested for. In case of a positive result, you will receive accompanying information from us so that it is clear what to do next. On the results page you can also download a certificate stating your result. This certificate was signed by the Medical Molecular Microbiologist and one of Easly’s physicians. You can show the certificate to your doctor. That way, your doctor can prescribe treatment.
Easly does not offer treatment in the event of a positive result. In the case of a positive result, we refer you to your own general practitioner for treatment. No active contact is ever made with your GP from Easly, this responsibility lies with you. Would you rather not see your family doctor? Then, in many cases, you can also contact the GGD for treatment. Do you have questions following your positive test result or would like advice from an independent physician? Of course, you can always contact our medical team!
Although Easly does not provide treatment, we can help you with an (anonymous) partner alert. With a partner alert, you can notify your sex partner(s) of your STD anonymously. This is very important to prevent further spread of the STD as well as re-infection in yourself.
A partner alert works as follows: You contact one of Easly’s doctors. Our doctor will ask you for some information. If you agree to provide this information, the doctor will give you a code. You then enter this code on the website www.partnerwaarschuwing.nl. Next, follow some steps by which you anonymously notify your sex partner(s) of your STD via text message or e-mail.
Anonymity, discretion and protection of your data are very high priorities for Easly. Therefore, we will make every effort to give you the strongest possible sense of anonymity and privacy. So you can place your order with just a few details. The test is shipped in a discreet package to an address you specify; it does not have to be your home address. Your result is displayed on a secure page and can only be viewed by you via a unique code. The result remains visible for one month. The results are available anonymously to the Medical Molecular Microbiologist and only at your request, to one of our physicians with medical confidentiality. Easly is NEN 7510/7512/7513 certified and is audited annually for compliance with the most stringent requirements regarding the handling of medical data. In addition, our application is built with the principle of privacy and security by design.
Easly stands for reliable STD diagnostics. Our medical team, consisting of the Medical Molecular Microbiologist, analysts and physicians at Easly are therefore committed to ensuring this on a daily basis. To provide you with the most reliable results possible, we offer a choice tool, medical advice, clear test instructions and extensive information on our website, among other things. In addition, of course, your test is analyzed with the highest possible care in our ISO accredited laboratory using a highly sensitive PCR test. If you would like more information about our medical team, please visit the webpage on Easly or visit laboratory website Mozand
As a provider of STD self-taking tests, we see it as our duty to educate our clients on some important aspects within STD diagnostics and STD care. Therefore, below we highlight some of the things that are important to consider when taking an STD test.
For the most reliable results, it is important that you choose a test that is most appropriate in your particular situation. The type of STD or STDs you are most at risk for depends on your age and gender, your ethnicity, your sexual actions/behavior, your sex partner(s) and some other factors, among others. In addition, it is important to realize that an STD can be located in multiple locations in the body. Therefore, taking multiple samples may be relevant. On the other hand, unnecessary testing should try to be avoided. So it can be quite complicated to make a good choice yourself. Easly therefore stresses the importance of our choice tool, which guides you in making the right choice. It is also possible to contact our medical team for personal advice regarding choosing a test.
Anyone who has unprotected sex is at risk of contracting an STD. However, STDs are more prevalent in certain groups within the population. These groups are thus at additional risk of contracting an STD and may belong to so-called high-risk groups.
Testing for an STD can be done through several avenues. First, you can see your own family doctor. This has the advantage that your doctor is aware of your health situation and can immediately initiate treatment if necessary. One drawback is that a test through your doctor is not free (it comes out of your deductible) and, of course, you do not remain completely anonymous. On the other hand, your family doctor does always have professional secrecy. If you are under 25 years of age or belong to a high-risk group, you can often get free and anonymous testing and treatment through the GGD.
In addition, a third option is private STD care. Private STD care includes STD clinics and providers of STD self-taking tests, where you have your test analyzed at an accredited laboratory. Easly is a provider of self-administered tests. The advantage of a self-administered test is that it is generally very reliable and completely anonymous. You do pay for a self-administered test.
Finally, there are self-tests, where you not only perform the test yourself, but also read it yourself. These are often less reliable tests and are not recommended by medical professionals.
The service Easly offers (self-administered tests) is not appropriate in all cases. Sometimes it may be wiser to consult your own family doctor or the Public Health Service. This is the case, for example, if you are at risk for a type of STD that Easly does not test for, such as HIV. Both our choice tool and our medical team can help you with this question.
We cannot repeat it often enough: for the most reliable result, it is important to take into account the incubation period of an STD. The incubation period is the time between the time of infection and the time an STD is detectable through a test. Below is a table of incubation times for each STD.
STD | Incubation period | When to test |
Chlamydia | 14 days | Two weeks after unprotected sex. Test immediately if you have complaints and repeat the test after two weeks if the result is negative. |
Gonorrhea | 14 days | Two weeks after unprotected sex. Test immediately if you have complaints and repeat the test after two weeks if the result is negative. |
Trichomonas | 21 days | Four weeks after unprotected sex. Test immediately if you have complaints and repeat the test after four weeks if the result is negative. |
Mycoplasma | 28 days | If there are persistent complaints, without indications of Chlamydia or Gonorrhea. Testing for mycoplasma is especially useful in men with persistent complaints. |
Herpes | 4 days | Immediately in the presence of blisters in or around the vagina, on or around the penis, in or around the anus. |
Syphilis (primary) | 10 to 90 days | Immediately in the presence of a sore (ulcus) in or around the vagina, on or around the penis, in or around the anus or in the mouth. |
We emphasize that prevention is always better than cure. This is why we want to remind you of the importance of safe sex. By having safe sex, you can largely prevent contracting an STD. Safe sex is sex with a condom. But beware, not in all cases does sex with a condom protect against an STD. If you have questions about this or would like more information, you can seek advice from our medical team.
If you have tested positive for an STD, treatment is very important to prevent any serious long-term consequences as well as to prevent further spread of the STD. Although Easly does not provide treatment, we do want to highlight some important things regarding treatment:
If you have been infected with an STD, it is very important to prevent further spread as well as re-infection in yourself. You do this by warning your sex partner(s) about the fact that you have contracted an STD. After all, if you don’t warn your sex partners, you risk your sex partner infecting you again. Easly can help you alert your sex partners. Please consult our physician and ask for partner alert code. With the code you receive, go to the website www.partnerwaarschuwing.nl and follow the steps to anonymously notify your sex partner(s) of your STD.
