MCHC Meaning
MCHC stands for mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration. The MCHC blood test determines the concentration of hemoglobin (oxygen-transporting protein) in red blood cells and, like MCH, provides information about red blood cells and the distribution of oxygen in the body.
MCHC Normal value
The normal range for the average hemoglobin concentration in red blood cells (MCHC) is between 19.95 and 21.38 mmol/L for both men and women.
MCHC Value in Blood
Result | Unit | Value min-max | Age | Gender | Biomarker interpretation |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Deviant | mmol/L | 0 - 19 | 18 - 100 | Man & Woman | The MCHC is outside the normal range and is too low. The interpretation depends on other blood values. |
Caution | mmol/L | 19 - 19.95 | 18 - 100 | Man & Woman | The MCHC is still within the normal range, but is on the low side. |
Normal | mmol/L | 19.95 - 21.38 | 18 - 100 | Man & Woman | The MCHC is good. |
Caution | mmol/L | 21.38 - 22.5 | 18 - 100 | Man & Woman | The MCHC is still within the normal range, but is on the high side. |
Deviant | mmol/L | 22.5 - 50 | 18 - 100 | Man & Woman | The MCHC is outside the normal range and is too high. The interpretation depends on other blood values. |
