MCH Meaning
MCH stands for mean corpuscular hemoglobin. The MCH test determines the amount of hemoglobin in red blood cells and thus provides information about red blood cells and the distribution of oxygen in the body.
MCH Normal value
The normal value for the average amount of hemoglobin per red blood cell (MCH) is between 1.67 and 1.9 fmol for both men and women.
MCH Value in Blood
Result | Unit | Value min-max | Age | Gender | Biomarker interpretation |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Deviant | fmol | 0 - 1.59 | 18 - 100 | Man & Woman | The MCH is outside the normal range and is too low. The interpretation depends on other blood values. |
Caution | fmol | 1.59 - 1.67 | 18 - 100 | Man & Woman | The MCH is still within the normal range, but is on the low side. |
Normal | fmol | 1.67 - 1.9 | 18 - 100 | Man & Woman | The MCH is good. |
Caution | fmol | 1.9 - 2 | 18 - 100 | Man & Woman | The MCH is still within the normal range, but is on the high side. |
Deviant | fmol | 2 - 10 | 18 - 100 | Man & Woman | The MCH is outside the normal range and is too high. The interpretation depends on other blood values. |
